Canada Now Offers Electronic Citizenship Certificates For Those Who Want Them Canada is now offering electronic citizenship certificates for those who want them.

“You can choose to receive an e-certificate or a paper certificate beginning January 4, 2023, if you: submit an application for citizenship; apply for a certificate of citizenship; submit a request to regain your Canadian citizenship or; are a member of the Canadian Armed Forces and wish to regain your citizenship of Canada after having given it up, “the federal government states on its website.

The proof of a person’s Canadian citizenship is provided by citizenship certificates, which can be obtained on paper or electronically. They are not forms for traveling.
On January 4, this year, Canada began providing the e-certificates, which are legitimate proofs of Canadian citizenship. Each such certificate of electronic citizenship contains:

a certificate number that begins with the letter X;
the UCI, or unique client identifier, of the citizen;
their given and family name;
the date of birth of the citizen;
the gender of the citizen, and;
the day on which citizenship takes effect.
By logging in to the Immigration, Citizenship, and Refugees Canada (IRCC) portal, you can always access these e-certificates online.

A letter with download instructions is sent to a successful citizenship applicant either via email or through their IRCC secure account. The applicant’s email or the representative’s are the recipients of any emails that are sent.

An IRCC account is required to download the e-certificate, which can be created online by going here.

The federal government recommends printing electronic citizenship certificates on white 8.5 by 11-inch paper in color and black ink, printing both sides of the page, and setting the printer layout to portrait orientation.

According to Ottawa, “The information on the printed certificate must be legible (clear, easy to read), fully visible, and not cut off.”

Contact the support team at if you have applied for an e-certificate and are experiencing technical difficulties.

A foreign national acquires Canadian citizenship, which comes with a number of rights and responsibilities.

Citizens of Canada can vote in elections and travel with a Canadian passport. They can also run for office, participate in political activities, and vote in federal, provincial, and municipal elections. This means that they have a say in who runs the various levels of government in Canada. That could be a country, province, territory, town, city, or school board.

Citizens have the option of joining one of the established parties or running as independent candidates.

Many Canadians enjoy dual citizenship because the country does not require its citizens to choose between being a Canadian citizen and a citizen of another country.

Most jobs in Canada are open to permanent residents, but some require a high-level security clearance only available to citizens. This includes a few federal positions. There are numerous benefits and high pay for these jobs.
In addition, Canadian citizens receive a passport, which is less frequently required and easier to renew than a permanent resident card. Canadians can travel to many countries without a visa thanks to their passport, which also makes it easier to obtain a visa when one is required.

If they are traveling with Canadian passports, Canadians can also rely on the assistance of Canadian consulates and embassies when they run into trouble abroad.

Any children born in Canada to Canadian citizens automatically acquire Canadian citizenship. There will be no application process for them. If at least one parent was born or naturalized in Canada, some children who are born outside of Canada are also citizens at birth.

Instead of citizenship, residency is the basis for Canadian tax laws. A Canadian citizen can choose not to pay taxes and live in Canada.

However, at the federal, provincial, and municipal levels, Canadian citizens who do reside in Canada are obligated to pay Canadian taxes on worldwide income.
